The Festival of Architecture and Interior Design (FOAID) is one of the most celebrated architecture and design festivals in the world. It brings together a magnificent experience and an exchange of innovative ideas coming from worldwide architects, developers, consultants, PMC contractors, investors and decision makers.

Today’s presentation by Ricardo Bofill at FOAID was focused on how we have very little time left to save Earth! We don’t need innovations in styling, rather we need to work on saving our Planet Earth. We as architects and designers can play a major role in this! Are we really happy here? In the concrete jungle? I don’t think so. Let’s do something which will help all of us! Let’s save earth and thereby save ourselves!

The idea of the city being a living super-organism still causes outrage. Like an organism, cities already input food by transport, and output waste, to self-regulate. They are primitive mega organism. Walden 7 by Ricardo Bofill is a resilient model with a biological analogy. In several ways the social insect nests are as good or better a model of a human city as any of our present-day computer-generated AI models. Should we combine bio-mimesis and Machine learning to design the cities of the future?
